How Far Back Can I Search Deleted Reddit Content?
Archive coverage for deleted Reddit content varies significantly depending on the archive, time period, and source. Here's what you can expect from each major archive.
PullPush coverage
PullPush has indexed Reddit content since approximately 2021-2022. Coverage is strongest for popular subreddits (those with many subscribers and frequent posts). Niche or small subreddits may have spottier coverage. PullPush generally captures content within hours to days of posting, so if a post was live long enough to be indexed, it's usually findable.
Wayback Machine coverage
The Wayback Machine has Reddit snapshots going back years — some dating to Reddit's early days in 2005-2006. But coverage is unpredictable: pages are only archived if someone specifically saved that URL. Popular threads, especially those linked from external sites, are more likely to have been saved. Most Reddit pages were never archived.
Coverage gaps
- Pre-2021 content: Before PullPush, the main archive was Pushshift (now deprecated), which had coverage from ~2015. Gaps exist for older content.
- Very recent deletions: Content deleted within the last few hours may not be in any archive yet.
- Private/restricted subreddits: Archives only capture public content. Private communities are not indexed.
